Among the questions the Yankees have this offseason is: Just what are they going to get out of DJ LeMahieu next season?
It’s a concern managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner raised this week at the owners’ meetings as LeMahieu weighs getting surgery on his right toe in hopes of correcting an issue that plagued him throughout the second half of the season and sidelined him during the playoffs.
LeMahieu said he suffered a fractured sesamoid bone in his right big toe, as well as ligament damage to his second toe.
“It’s not a usual injury,” Steinbrenner said. “It’s not [something] normal we see on two players on every team every year. So, I just don’t know.”
