Sign Up NowTORONTO — Austin Wells was out of the lineup for the third time in four games Monday, but it was not because of his slumping bat.
The Yankees catcher underwent a battery of tests on Sunday and Monday after having circulation issues in his left index finger.
Those tests have come back with good news, but the Yankees wanted to do their due diligence since the last time they had a catcher dealing with circulation issues in his finger it was Ben Rortvedt, who was eventually discovered to have an aneurysm near his left shoulder in spring of 2023.
“That’s pretty much why I wanted to do the testing and keep going with what [the trainers] thought,” Wells said after a 5-4 loss to the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre.
