The Yankees have shown interest in Seibu Lions RHP Tatsuya Imai, who has a 2.10 ERA since 2022 and a tough fastball (99 mph) and slider combo. 

The Mets and many others are expected to be in on the top-tier free agent starter (along with Framber Valdez and Dylan Cease). 

It’s what Tigers GM Jeff Greenberg didn’t say that’s leading rival GMs to believe Detroit may at least entertain offers for two-time Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal. 

Greenberg could have shut down trade speculation by saying Skubal isn’t going anywhere, as Pirates GM Ben Cherington did regarding Paul Skenes. But Greenberg declined to discuss things — not a shock but perhaps telling.
