GRID: Packer investigated for sex assault

Authorities in Lake Delton, Wis., said a Packers player is being investigated for an alleged sexual assault of two women early Saturday. Lake Delton police have not released the player’s name. They say he was released after being interviewed at a condo where he and six other players were staying and where the women allege the assault happened.

* The Bills signed former Giants linebacker Reggie Torbor to a reported two-year contract.

* Joe Gardi, the former Hofstra football coach who coached the team from 1990-2005, died Wednesday after suffering a stroke last week. He was 71.

GOLF: Price, Armour tied at Champions event

In West Des Moines, Iowa, Nick Price shot a 6-under 65 to pull into a tie at 10-under 132 with Tommy Armour III after second-round play at the Champions Tour’s Principal Charity Classic. Price enters the final round with at least a share of the lead for the third year in a row at Iowa.

* In Newport, Wales, Germany’s Marcel Siem shot a 5-under 66 to take a 3-stroke lead, and Scotland’s Stephen Gallacher set a course record with a 63 at the Wales Open.

AUTO: Briscoe holds off Danica in IRL

In Fort Worth, Texas, Ryan Briscoe pulled away in the closing laps after briefly losing the lead to Danica Patrick and won the IndyCar Series race at Texas. It was the first victory this season for Briscoe, who started the race on the pole. Patrick followed up her sixth-place showing at the Indianapolis 500 with her best finish of the season.

* In Gladeville, Tenn., Brad Keselowski raced to his third NASCAR Nationwide Series victory of the year and ninth overall, easily holding off rival Carl Edwards at Nashville Superspeedway.

ETC.: Lance still third at warmup Tour

In Diekirch, Luxembourg, Lance Armstrong, who is warming up for the Tour de France, held on to third place in the overall standings at the Tour of Luxembourg after Frenchman Tony Gallopin won the third stage in a sprint finish.

* Peruvian mountain rescue police brought the body of acclaimed freeskier Arne Backstrom down off 18,780-foot Pisco mountain, two days after the 29-year-old Californian died in a high-altitude fall.
