GOLF: Rollins drives to top of Buick

In San Diego, John Rollins caught up to Camilo Villegas again, and this time kept right on going until he finished off a 2-under 70 that gave him a three-shot lead at the Buick Invitational.

Rollins, who lost a share of the lead with a bogey on the final hole of the second round, made up for that quickly with two birdies in the first four holes to take the lead, surging ahead when the Colombian struggled from the sand and on the greens.

* In Gold Coast, Australia, LPGA Tour regular Katherine Hull shot a 4-under 68 to take a three-shot lead after the third round of the ANZ Australian Ladies Masters at Royal Pines. . . . The Lancaster Country Club in Far Hills, N.J., has been selected to host the 2015 U.S. Women’s Open. . . . Betty Jameson, one of the 13 founding members of the LPGA Tour, died yesterday, the tour said. She was 89.

NHL: Blues’ Kariya to have hip surgery

Blues forward Paul Kariya will have surgery on his right hip, a month after he had his left hip repaired. The surgery will be performed Tuesday by Dr. Marc Philippon in Vail, Colo., where Kariya, sidelined since Nov. 5, had the initial surgery on Jan. 5.

TENNIS: Tsonga reaches finals

In Johannesburg, top-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will face Jeremy Chardy in an all-French final at the SA Tennis Open. Tsonga defeated Frederico Gil of Portugal 6-3, 6-4, while fifth-seeded Chardy overcame three match points to upset second-seeded David Ferrer 1-6, 7-6 (9), 7-6 (4).

ETC.: Titans Blazed by Boston

In Boston, the New York Titans professional lacrosse team lost to the Boston Blazers 9-8 at the Prudential Center last night. Kyle Ross scored as time expired, after Boston had tied the game with ten seconds remaining. The Titans (3-3) play host to Philadelphia tonight.

* Nationals pitcher Shawn Hill won his salary arbitration case yesterday when a panel awarded him the $775,000 contract he sought instead of the $500,000 the team offered.
