Chris Steele, a five-star recruit who was supposed to be part of the future at Florida, is leaving the program. And, according to GatorSports.com, the situation could have been easily avoided.

Steele was denied a request to be immediately moved from the dorm he shared with quarterback Jalon Jones, with whom he was not comfortable. He asked to be switched early during this spring semester, but Steele and his parents were told he would be moved in the summer.

On April 6, two female students accused Jones of sexual battery in incidents reportedly just 30 minutes apart.

Jones, who was not charged, is transferring. But his former roommate still does not want to stick around.

Steele reportedly entered the transfer portal Thursday, and unless he decides to stay, Dan Mullin’s Florida has lost the No. 5 cornerback of the class of 2019.
