In a classy move, John Starks faxed The Post a letter (left) with a simple goodbye message to the fans.
Thank you.
Yesterday, Starks’ trade to Golden State became official. The Knicks dealt the 33-year-old Starks, along with Chris Mills and Terry Cummings for 28-year-old Latrell Sprewell.
Starks’ Knick story began on Oct. 1, 1990. Starks, signed as a free agent, was guided by Pat Riley, turning from a CBA player into a 1994 NBA All Star.
Although there were plenty of high points in his New York career, Starks may be best remembered for his 2-for-18 performance in the Game 7 loss to Houston in 1994.
