Panic may have set in among Yankee fans as they watched their team blow two chances to close out the Red Sox in Boston, but George Steinbrenner remained confident as he walked into the Stadium yesterday afternoon.

“We’re ready, we’re ready,” Steinbrenner said more than three hours before last night’s Game 6 of the ALCS. “We’ll get them.”

And as fans braved the chilly rain before the game to greet players from afar, Miguel Cairo simply told them to “believe.”
