Seemingly sputtering out of control without one of their two most valuable players, the Devils will play a fifth straight game today without Scott Stevens as they take on the Capitals in an afternoon match at the Meadowlands.

The Devils’ captain hasn’t played in four games since Jan. 9, initially out with the flu, but now sits out with something doctors are having trouble diagnosing.
