St. John’s has been picked as one of the four regional host for next year’s 2K Sports College Hoops Classic benefiting Coaches vs Cancer, The Post has learned. The other three regional hosts are perennial powers Michigan St., Maryland and Texas.

“I think St. John’s has always been considered in those circles and there’s no reason we can’t stay in those circles,” said coach Norm Roberts. “If we’re fortunate enough to get to the Garden next year, it would be great, but we have to worry about getting better this year before think about next year.”

The Red Storm went 9-18 last season in Roberts’ first season and begins the season Saturday night against Maryland-Eastern Shore.

The semifinals of this year’s Coaches vs Cancer tournament comes to the Garden Thursday with Florida meeting Wake Forest at 7 p.m. followed by Texas Tech vs Syracuse. The championship and consolation games are Friday.
