SEATTLE – Having liked what he saw in Darryl Strawberry’s swing Friday night, George Steinbrenner planned on attending both games of the Columbus Clippers’ double-header against Charlotte last night at Cooper Stadium in Columbus.

“He looked very good to me,” The Boss told The Post yesterday. “His stroke is there, it’s as good as ever and real quick. I am pleased with what I see from the bat.”

Of course, the Yankees expected Strawberry to hit Triple-A pitching and he had, going 4-for-11 (.364) in three games with all four hits singles. Friday night both singles were of the line drive variety.

Strawberry continued to impress at the plate in the first game last night, going 2-for-3 with a double and a single and two RBIs. He handled two chances in left without a problem. Serving as the DH in the nightcap, Strawberry was 0-for-1 with an RBI and was removed from the game when it was delayed by rain.
