KNICK NOTES

League disciplinarian Stu Jackson phoned Tim Thomas yesterday to tell him to stop the threats.

“I was told to keep a muzzle on my mouth,” Thomas said. “It’s going to be hard for me. I’m the type of person who can’t hold my tongue. I like my money and I’m not trying to give it up. I guess I’m the pitbull with a muzzle. I’m not going to trick no money like that.”

Thomas made explosive remarks Tuesday, challenging his Knick teammates to retaliate last night against the Nets in Game 3 for Jason Collins’ hit on him Saturday that could put Thomas out of the Lincoln Tunnel Series.

Jackson said in a telephone interview yesterday he would not fine Thomas, suffering from back spasms but has not ruled out returning for Game 4 Sunday.

“I had a conversation with Tim but I don’t want to comment on the content,” Jackson said. “But the conversation went fine. My responsibility is to make sure the players can play safely.”

Thomas said he wanted back in the series “just to hit somebody.” Thomas got a supportive call from Stephon Marbury yesterday morning. “He told me everybody heard the remarks and understood and they’re with me. Everybody in this lockerroom knows what we have to do.”

Isiah Thomas said Thomas’ remarks saying he wished his teammates would’ve already retaliated would not “divide” the club and they will come out of it “stronger.”

Thomas, who sat on the bench in a black Knick T-shirt, said “I’m shooting for Sunday.” However, he’s having serious back spasms and having treatment three times a day.

Jersey girl Tara Reid attended with Jeremy Shockey. Both are noted Net fans.

Former NJ Senator Bill Bradley was there rooting for the Knicks, still smarting over the Nets moving to Brooklyn.

“If the Nets had stayed in New Jersey, it would’ve been easier issue of who I root for,” said Bradley, who’s become involved in a NBA Legends Tour. “But they’re leaving New Jersey. And once you’re a Knick, you’re always a Knick. It’s bad for New Jersey.”
