Rick Jackson scored a career-high 28 points, 17 in the second half, and No. 4 Syracuse recovered from an eight-point deficit to beat feisty Providence 99-85 last night in Providence.
Andy Rautins scored a season-high 28 points, Jackson added nine rebounds and Arinze Onuaku had 12 points and nine boards for the Orange (26-2, 13-2), who clinched a double-bye in the Big East tournament.
After Jamine Peterson hit a 3-pointer to open the second half and give the Friars a 55-47 lead, Syracuse scored the next 14 points.

In Boston, Charles Jenkins scored 20 points to lead Hofstra. Halil Kanacevic added 16 points and 11 rebounds and the Pride (17-13, 9-8 Colonial Athletic Association) outscored Northeastern 12-1 in the final 2:58 to break a 61-61 tie.

In Louisville, Austin Freeman scored 24 of his 29 points in the second half and No. 11 Georgetown (19-7, 9-6 Big East) bounced back from consecutive losses with a victory over the Cardinals (18-10, 9-6).

In Lubbock, Texas, Jacob Pullen scored 21 of his 28 points in the first half to lead No. 5 Kansas State (23-4, 10-3 Big 12) to its sixth straight win.
MAGEE SETS RECORD
Philadelphia University coach Herb Magee won his 903rd career game, moving past Hall of Famer Bob Knight to become the winningest men’s coach in NCAA history.
The 68-year-old Magee got the record with a 76-65 victory over Goldey-Beacom College. Magee has won all 903 games with the tiny Division II Rams.
