The alleged “biggest drama queen ever” is getting the last laugh on Angelique Kerber.
Tennis player Bianca Andreescu was called that by Kerber after defeating her on the court on Saturday in the third round of the Miami Open. Despite dropping out of the tournament in her next match due to injury, the Canadian teen approved this week of her various Instagram followers poking fun at Kerber for mocking her.
The 18-year-old Andreescu posted a picture to her IG story Tuesday of her leaving the court, accompanied by an empty box encouraging her followers to “Caption This.”
One fan wrote, “I’m not the drama queen, you are,” to which Andreescu replied, “Ha.” Another captioned the photo, “Was that enough drama for you?” Andreescu replied, “Hahahaha.”
A third post stated, “There’s the trophy you didn’t win, Angie.” Andreescu wrote back, “So many of these lmaooo.”
Andreescu, currently ranked 24th in the WTA rankings, had to retire from her fourth-round match Monday while trailing Anett Kontaveit of Estonia, 6-1, 2-0, due to a shoulder injury.
She similarly had called for a medical timeout and received treatment on her shoulder during her third-round win over Kerber, prompting the “biggest drama queen ever” comment as the two shook hands following the match. Andreescu also had defeated Kerber in the Indian Wells final for her first career title on March 17.
