American tennis player Amanda Anisimova’s comeback could have a fairytale ending at Wimbledon today.
Anisimova, 23, took an extended break from tennis in 2023, and this time last year, she had fallen in the final round of Wimbledon qualifiers.
Today, she’ll play in the women’s final at Wimbledon. Anisimova advanced following a shocking upset against World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals.
She’ll face World No. 8 Iga Swiatek, who is no stranger to Grand Slam titles, but still doesn’t have a title at Wimbledon. Swiatek is a four-time French Open champ, and she won the US Open in 2022.
No matter which player wins, a first-time champion will be crowned at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club today.
