The only American man still standing in the US Open men’s singles draw will face a tennis legend tonight for a spot in the semifinal round.
Taylor Fritz entered the US Open as the reigning runner-up and the highest-ranked American at No. 4. After several upsets during the first week of the tournament, Fritz is the only American left in the tournament, and the sole chance the United States has to produce a men’s grand slam winner since Andy Roddick’s 2003 US Open victory.
In tonight’s quarterfinal, Fritz will face No. 7 Novak Djokovic. As a 24-time Grand Slam champion tied for the most all-time among men or women, Djokovic is chasing his record-breaking 25th in this year’s US Open.
Head-to-head, Djokovic and Fritz have met 10 times before, including in the quarterfinal round of the 2023 US Open, and most recently at an ATP Masters 1000 event in Shanghai. Djokovic is currently 10-0 against Fritz.
Fritz vs. Djokovic match time:
The quarterfinal match between Fritz and Djokovic is set to begin at approximately 8 p.m. ET tonight, Sept. 2.
