Jelena Ostapenko blew up at the chair umpire after a number of calls she disagreed with, accusing the official of being “blind” during a quarterfinal loss to Victoria Azarenka at the Brisbane International on Thursday.
Ostapenko’s breaking point came after Azarenka took a 5-4 lead in the third set.
The 2017 French Open champ thought the ball bounced at least twice on Azarenka’s side, but the umpire allowed play to go on with Azarenka winning the point and the game.
“You are blind. It’s impossible to play when you are…” Ostapenko shouted while seeming to indicate that she thought the ball bounced three times. “You make so much mistakes. I never want you on my match again. You will never be on my match. You will never be on my match. I don’t want you on my matches. You ruin my matches … I will never forget, never.”

Azarenka was in control early as she took the first set with one break of serve, but as the match progressed Ostapenko began to find her range and deservedly leveled.
“With Jelena, sometimes you just have to put on a helmet and try to stay in there,” Azarenka said of Ostapenko after the match.
