Jo Konta’s gameplan ahead of Friday’s French Open semifinals: Romantic comedies, of course.

The British tennis star, who will face Markéta Vondroušová of the Czech Republic, has been making use of her downtime away from the court, Netflix and chilling with her boyfriend, photographer Jackson Wade.

“We have made our way through all the romcoms possible, really light-hearted,” Konta, 28, said, according to the UK’s Telegraph. “We watched ‘Hitch,’ which Jackson hadn’t seen before and he loved it. ‘The Other Woman,’ with Cameron Diaz. ‘This Is 40.'”

Konta is hoping to translate some of that movie magic to the court, following a 2018 season in which she did not advance past the second round of a Grand Slam.

“Everyone gets motivated or inspired by different things,” she explained. “I don’t really look for a fight, or look for animosity or tension where it’s not needed. I really play tennis for me, enjoy it for me. I think that’s been the biggest factor in doing well here, is that I enjoy what I’m doing.”

Heading into Friday’s match, Konta understands she needs to treat each one differently.

“I lost to Vondroušová last year at Indian Wells but beat her two weeks ago. Whoever I play, I go into the match 50-50,” Konta said.
