Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal’s 2016 season hasn’t gone the way he might have hoped. He suffered a shocking defeat in the first round of the Australian Open. He skipped Wimbledon, withdrew from the French Open and failed to make the final at either the Rio Olympics or the U.S. Open.

Still, he remains a hero in at least one mother’s eyes after his kind gesture during a match in his native Mallorca.

Nadal, paired with teenager Simon Solbas, was serving against John McEnroe and Carlos Moya in a charity doubles match when a commotion in the crowd caught his attention. A crying mother was calling out the name of her child, who had gotten lost.

Nadal stopped play while the distraught woman searched and eventually was reunited with her crying daughter.

The crowd erupted in applause at the reunion, while Nadal smiled and continued play. All in a day’s work.
