Texas A&M defensive back Bryce Anderson had to be carted off the field and taken to the hospital following a scary injury on Saturday night.
With 58 seconds late in the first half of the Aggies’ 41-40 comeback win over Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., Anderson took the worst from a hit he delivered, along with with defensive back Will Lee, on Fighting Irish tight end Eli Raridon after he caught a pass, lying motionless for about 10 minutes as medical staff attended to him.
Anderson gave a thumps-up sign as he was driven off the field and Texas A&M said he had all feeling in all his limbs.
“I think, at this point, all signs are positive,” Texas A&M coach Mike Elko said. “I don’t think we’ve done every diagnostic testing, but so far, every test we’ve run through has come back positive. So, we’ll continue to pray that comes to a positive resolution.”
While down with the injury, the entire Aggies team and support staff kneeled in prayer around Anderson.
“It goes without saying that injuries, of any kind, are the worst part of this sport,” commentator Noah Eagle said on the broadcast. “But certainly the ones with a fallen brother … and you can see the pain and concern on the Aggies’ side and the Notre Dame side.”

After eventually being put on the stretcher in a neck brace, Anderson gave a hopeful thumbs up to his teammates, which was met with loud supporting applause from the crowd at Notre Dame Stadium.
“It is a violent game and everybody that plays it knows that and understands that. But you just are never prepared for an injury that looks like this,” Blackledge said.

Anderson, 21, is currently in his senior season with the Aggies after playing in all 13 games during his junior campaign last year.
Texas A&M (3-0) pulled off the victory, thanks to an impressive drive in the closing seconds.
The 13-play, 74-yard drive was capped off when Marcel Reed escaped pressure to throw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Nate Boerkircher with 13 seconds left and Randy Bond kicked the extra point to secure the victory.

Texas A&M beat a Top 25 team on the road for the first time since knocking off then-No. 3 Auburn on Nov. 8, 2014. The Aggies had lost 13 straight road games to ranked opponents.
“I don’t know that anything went to script in terms of how you want to go about winning a game on the road,” said Elko, a former Notre Dame assistant coach. “We just kept fighting, kept battling, kept scrapping. Ultimately, we made one more play than they did.”
Notre Dame dropped to 0-2 after playing in the national title game last season. The Irish opened with a 24-27 loss at No. 5 Miami on Aug. 31.
