Every Friday in NYP TV Sports, our sports television pullout that appears in the middle of the print edition and online, we present “Five Questions for ⦔ This is the 6th Question, where we post more of my interview.
This week, I spoke with Phil Simms. Simms will broadcast his fifth Super Bowl on Sunday.
Q: What’s harder? Playing in the Super Bowl or broadcasting the game?
A: Playing is always harder.
Q: Which is more never racking?
A: I don’t know if either is really nerve-racking. Look, I was fortunate so things didn’t become nerve-racking. Doing the game, I do not find it nerve-racking. Nervous is not the word. Excited? I think I’ll be a little more excited.
Q: When you do a game like this, do you broadcast it differently?
A: I try not to. I think over the years â now, I’m talking like a football player — I’ve had some of my best games ever, just from how I judge myself, have been from championship games. I would love to have one of the best games that I have ever done just from my end, how I talk, what I see, whatever it is. I’d like to have one of those for the Super Bowl, too.
