Not that it should come as any surprise, but at a pace like Madison Square Garden for self-congratulation over mediocrity is as much a part of the management mission as anything else, Donnie Walsh stands alone and willingly criticized his year one performance in this story by Marc Berman. I happen not to agree with the GM, but it is refreshing to see, and hear, accountability.

Something to ponder, which I pointed out in this column this morning. Not only will John Calipari earn, by Christmas, more than John Wooden earned in his career, but he will earn more in Year One in Kentucky more than Norm Roberts has taken in in five at St.John’s. The first fact is a matter of trivia and inflation. The second is just plain telling.
