Steve Maluk competed in the Empire State Building run-up a record 21 times, but wanted to stop at 20. A nice round number, he thought.

But after the Sept. 11 tragedy, he went for one last dash.

“I had trained in the World Trade Center 2-3 times a week [for the run-up],” Maluk said. “I knew it was going to be an emotional event and I wanted to honor those we lost.”

His picks are: Patriots, 49ers, Eagles, Panthers, Jets, Rams, Bengals, Titans, Falcons, Cowboys, Chiefs, Colts, Vikings, Packers, Raiders and Ravens.

The fan with the highest winning percentage at the end of the season will win $1,000. In the case of a tie, the prize will be split evenly.

Last week’s fan, Kelley Peabody, went 9-7 for a winning percentage of .563. Candis Burns has the lead with an 11-5 record and a .686 winning percentage.
