While Larry Banker, a former police officer and current Jets season ticket holder, was taking a break from clearing away the wreckage and searching for his best friend on Sept. 12, 2001, a firefighter came up to him.

“He asked me, ‘Do you sit in 303?,’ ” Banker, 46, said. “He tore open my raincoat and saw my Jets shirt. I get everyone up in my section and do a Jets dance. He sits in 305, a firefighter from The Bronx. I’ve never met the guy in my life. It just shows how football can bring some normalcy to a menacing situation.”

Last week’s fan, Lloyd Sobel, went 6-9-1 for a winning percentage of .406.

The fan with the highest winning percentage at the end of the season will win $1,000. In the case of a tie, the prize will be split evenly.
