The last remaining perfect bracket is no more.

Gregg Nigl, a 40-year-old neuropsychologist from Columbus, Ohio, had picked the first 49 games of this year’s NCAA Tournament correctly — after Gonzaga beat Florida State on Thursday night to move into the Elite Eight. Nigl was even on hand to see that one live.

He then watched as his luck and perfection end.

Second-seeded Tennessee rallied from 12 points down at the half, led by two in the closing seconds of regulation before falling 99-94 in overtime to No. 3 Purdue. It ends the longest verifiable unbeaten streak to start the NCAA Tournament, according to NCAA.com. The previous high was 39 consecutive wins.

According to the site, the odds of completing a perfect bracket for the entire tournament would be about 1 in 9.2 quintillion if every game was a coin flip.

If it’s any consolation, Nigl’s Final Four of Duke, Virginia, Kentucky and national champion Gonzaga remains intact.
