Nets president Rod Thorn cast serious doubts on the viability of a comeback by Jayson Williams.

“He’s been looked at by different doctors who have concurred that he is not going to play,” Thorn said. “His agent said the other day that miracles happen but . . . Coming back an hour on the weekend and then playing NBA basketball every day are two different things. I don’t think it’s something that’s probable [but] I guess anything is possible.” Williams would be a free agent if he did return.
