BOSTON – If any of the Yankees question clauses in their contracts that forbid them to do certain activities, all they have to think about is Thurman Munson dying in a plane crash 20 years ago today.

“I didn’t want him to fly,” George Steinbrenner said. “But he told me either I let him fly or he was to quit the game. He wanted that and it cost him his life. I didn’t want him to water ski.”
