In only their second year of existence, the New York Titans of the NLL saw their surprising late-season and playoff run come to an end last night when they lost in the Eastern Conference finals to the Buffalo Bandits, 19-12.

The Titans went into a sold-out HSBC Arena in Buffalo riding a five-game winning streak, only to find themselves in a five-goal hole at halftime. Ultimately, they were unable to overcome a potent Buffalo offensive, led by Mark Steenhuis’ six goals.

The Titans cut their deficit to three at the beginning of the fourth quarter before giving up two quick goals. Then, they pulled starting goalie Matt Vinc for only the second time all season, and had to play a man down for five minutes due to a fight.

Titans captain Casey Powell notched two goals and four assists.
