UCLA SURVIVES VS. DREXEL
UCLA57
Drexel 56
Leading UCLA by two with the ball in the closing seconds, Drexel’s Dominick Mejia forced a shot, then fouled UCLA’s Arron Afflalo beyond the 3-point arc with 6.8 seconds to play. Afflalo made the first and third shots, and Drexel’s Bashir Mason couldn’t handle the ensuing inbounds pass at midcourt.
Thus the 16th-ranked Bruins got the last regulation chance. After Drexel’s Dominick Mason fouled Jordan Farmar with :00.8 seconds remaining, Farmar shot an air ball with his first free throw, but sank the second to give UCLA a 57-56 win in the NIT Season Tip-Off consolation game last night at the Garden.
