Jake Paul may soon find himself in a real-life battle of the sexes.
The YouTube star has been angling unsuccessfully for a boxing match against UFC star Conor McGregor for some time, but in lieu of that matchup, another of the sport’s biggest stars offered her services Tuesday — Amanda Nunes, considered by many the greatest female MMA fighter of all time.
It was the culmination of a feisty back-and-forth between Paul and UFC president Dana White, who has been dragging his feet on the Paul-McGregor matchup but said Monday he was “thinking of letting Amanda Nunes knock his ass out.”
The women’s bantamweight and featherweight champion tweeted “I’m in” Wednesday.
Fresh off his victory against former NBA player Nate Robinson, Jake Paul is vying for a much higher-profile match to prove he is serious about breaking into the world of professional fighting.
He claims to have offered the Irish fighter $50 million for a matchup.
“You’re scared to fight me, Conor!! You’re ducking me because you don’t wanna lose to a f—ing YouTuber,” he said in a wild video filmed Monday, according to TMZ.
“You’re 0-1 as a boxer. I’m 2-0 as a boxer,” he added, referring to McGregor’s 2017 loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. — the second-highest-grossing pay-per-view fight in history.
Nunes is widely considered one of the most successful fighters in history and is one of only three fighters ever to hold titles in two weight classes at the same time. She is also the only fighter in history to defend two titles while holding them both.
The UFC hasn’t yet released a statement about the proposed fight.
