Bill Basel isn’t particularly surprised three of the four CHSFL AAA quarterfinal games last week ended in upsets.

“The division has been so balanced all year long,” the Chaminade coach said. “That was just another example of it.”

Basel’s sixth-seeded Flyers knocked off No. 3 Holy Trinity, and in tomorrow’s semifinals at 1 p.m. host No. 7 Mount St. Michael, which upset No. 2 St. Joseph by the Sea. The only higher seed to win was No. 1 St. Anthony’s, which hosts No. 5 Iona Prep tonight at 7:00 in the other semifinal.

“Anybody can win the championship this year, and that makes it really interesting,” Basel said.

In the AA semis, No. 6 Kellenberg hosts seventh-seeded Christ the King tonight at 7:00, while No. 4 Stepinac visits No. 1 Fordham Prep tomorrow at 1 p.m.
