Mark May has been a persistent and longstanding critic of Ohio State. Urban Meyer knows this.

So after shocking the college football world with upsets of Alabama and Oregon to win the inaugural College Football Playoff, the Buckeyes coach on Friday had the entire school send a message to the ESPN personality: “We are worthy.”

The echoing from Columbus, during a massive gathering to celebrate the team at the student union, surely must have been felt in Bristol, where May has made a career in part as contrarian agitator. He pulled that card again when Ohio State, somewhat controversially, was tabbed as the fourth and final team in the playoff, edging TCU and Baylor.

As you may have surmised, May was not a fan.
