Jordan Spieth is better at handling the tricky layout at Muirfield than he is post-round interviews.

The 19-year-old Texas native talkes with ESPN’s Tom Rinaldi on Thursday after finishing a strong first round of 2-under par in his first British Open. After the brief interview, Spieth extended his hand but found no counter courtesy, awkwardly left dangling by Rinaldi.

Spieth joked about the mix-up on Twitter.

The young American great became the first teenager to win a PGA Tour event in 82 years, claiming victory at the John Deere Classic last week, which qualified him for this week’s British Open.

He finished the second round 3-over par, 1-over for the tournament.
