It’s not surprising that only 10 games into the season, Liberty coach Pat Coyle, in her first full year with the team, is still trying to figure out a few things.

For example, why has her defense been unable to put together a consistent effort? Or, what does her squad have to do to steal a win on the road, which is next to impossible in the WNBA?

Fortunately for Coyle, there is one mystery that is already solved – Ann Wauters.

The center, also in her first year with the team, is emerging into a superstar in her fifth year in the league. After being scooped up in the dispersal draft late last year, Wauters is pouring in 14.2 ppg this season, tops for the Liberty (5-5).

“[Wauters] is really beginning to come into her own,” Coyle explained. “She has worked really hard since coming here, and it’s starting to pay off for her.”

She’ll certainly have her hands full tonight, when the West-leading Sacramento Monarchs (9-4), with their physical and dominant front line, pay a visit to the Garden.
