BETHESDA, Md. — Though Englishman Lee Westwood called Rory McIlroy’s performance “brilliant,” he also applied a little verbal pressure on his fellow European and Ryder Cup teammate.

“Great golf,” Westwood said. “You’ve got to play fairly well in a major to lead by six shot at any stage. When you have a six-shot lead everyone is giving you the tournament. In everyone’s mind he’s already won. We’ll see what Rory does.”
