LOS ANGELES – There has been one notable absence during Barry Bonds’ pursuit of Hank Aaron and the legion of people following it – Bonds’ godfather, Willie Mays.
Mays has not been at any of the Giants’ games in the last three weeks. The Giants said the plan is for Mays to be at the games once Bonds ties Aaron’s record of 755 home runs.
Mays spent most of last week and the weekend in Cooperstown for the Hall of Fame ceremonies.
