Woods tees off with lead

CHASKA, Minn.–Tiger Woods still held the lead at the 91st PGA Championship when he teed-off for second-round play today.
Woods, who fired a 5-under-par 67 during Thursday’s first round, maintained a one-stroke lead over defending PGA champion Padraig Harrington, who is paired with Woods today along with 2002 PGA champion Rich Beem.
LEADERBOARD Lucas Glover, the Beast of Bethpage, shot a 2-under par 70 today and is 3-under. Vijay Singh, who carded a 69 on Thursday, stayed at 3-under with an even-par 72 today. Brendan Jones of Australia is also at 3-under after a 2-under 70 today.
Woods, seeking his 15th major championship, may have difficulty adding to his lead as the wind is starting to gust at Hazeltine National Golf Club. Meanwhile, Phil Mickelson, after a 2-over par 74 on Thursday, posted another 2-over-par 74 and is in danger of missing the cut.
“I’ve got to get this thing turned around,” said Mickelson, who started on the 10th and had trouble throughout the round holing putts. “Missing the putt (for par) on 18, that would have been a good par. Those are the putts I need to make.”
It looks like Greg Bisconti, the assistant pro at The St. Andrews Golf Club in Hastings-on-the Hudson, will make the cut. After a 3-over 75 on Thursday, he shot an even par 72 yesterday and stands at 3-over for the tournament. “I don’t know where we stand right now, but obviously we have an outside chance,” Bisconti said. “I’m not going to get ahead of myself. But I played well. And that’s all I can hope for. Whatever happens is going to happen.”
