Friends, family and ex-teammates of Duilio Costabile gathered in Miami, today, to memorialize Costabile, known to so many for so long as a camerman and Phil Rizzuto’s foil on Ch. 11’s Yankee telecasts.

Costabile, who died in February at 67, had a larger relationship with baseball than solely as a cameraman. He was an accomplished outfielder in his native Cuba, playing professionally for los Caifas, before the Castro regime in 1959 confiscated his family’s property.

Costabile then moved to Queens, where he hooked up with Ch. 11 and with Maria Landa, also from Cuba, who would become his wife. Dr. Landa, a psychologist, will be presented with a plaque honoring her husband.
