When the wrestling ended, the violence began.

A high school wrestling match in Arizona evolved into an alleged assault on Saturday, as videos sent to KOLD News 13 showed. During a sectional match between Canyon del Oro High School and Salpointe Catholic High School, the referee stopped the bout after one of the wrestlers elbowed the other in the neck. Coaches sprinted onto the mat. A disqualification was ruled, and victory given to Salpointe. But the action didn’t stop there.

A Salpointe coach walked on to the mat, and a Canyon del Oro wrestler charged him and took him down. Another video shows a large fight breaking out, up to 10 men from both sides pushing one another. Soon, people from the stands jumped in. No charges have been filed yet.

“Amphitheater Public Schools is aware of the incident that occurred at a wrestling match on Saturday,” Amphitheater Public Schools said in a statement. “The District is investigating and will follow its Code of Conduct in determining any disciplinary action.”
