Rest in peace, brother.
Hulk Hogan — the handlebar-mustachioed marvel who turned professional wrestling into a mainstream spectacle and then transcended it — died Thursday following a “serious medical issue” at his Florida home.
He was 71 years old.
Hogan — real name Terry Bollea — began his wrestling career in Florida in the 1970s but became a bleach-blond megastar in the mid-1980s with the rise of the World Wrestling Federation.
His brash, shirt-ripping All-American persona fueled “Hulkamania” around the country — making him the ubiquitous face of WWF telecasts, not to mention millions of kids’ lunchboxes.

In the ring, Hogan became America’s favorite hero — grappling the WWF world title from iconic archrival the Iron Sheik in 1984 and body-slamming 520-pound Andre the Giant at Wrestlemania 3 in 1987.
The bandanna-wearing badass’ star burned anew in 1994 when he hopped to wrestling outfit WCW and formed the bad-boy group “nWo” — New World Order — with fellow former WWF wrestlers Scott Hall, Kevin Nash and NBA legend Dennis Rodman. One of his most iconic catchphrases was, “Let me tell you something, brother.”
Hulk’s line-crossing led WCW to top WWF in ratings for 83 consecutive weeks from 1996 to 1998. Hogan returned to WWF/WWE in 2002 and held his last official match in 2006, in which he defeated Randy Orton.
A “cardiac arrest” call was placed and medics were sent to Hogan’s home in Clearwater, Fla., according to TMZ. Stephen Yang

He again captivated the country with his leading role in a multimillion-dollar lawsuit after gossip website Gawker published a private sex tape in 2012. Hogan won four years later and was awarded $140 million in damages, causing the rag to go under.
