“Mean” Gene Okerlund died weeks after taking a nasty tumble at his Florida home that left him with several broken ribs, according to a report.

The legendary pro-wrestling hall of famer was already in poor health but he drastically declined following the fall in December, his son Todd Okerlund told TMZ Sports Thursday.

Four days before his death, Okerlund was admitted to a nursing home but had problems breathing. He was rushed to a hospital on Wednesday, where he died with his wife Jeanne at his side.

The beloved ringside straight man, who rose to fame within the WWF-turned-WWE franchises for his interviews of personalities like Randy “Macho Man” Savage and Hulk Hogan, was 76.

WWE chairman and CEO Vince McMahon shared his condolences on Twitter.

“It was impossible not to crack a smile whenever ‘Mean’ Gene Okerlund entered a room,” he wrote. “He was the voice behind so many of WWE’s most iconic and entertaining moments, and the WWE family will miss him immensely.”
