The New Day as we know it is over after one of the most heart-wrenching and emotional segments you will ever see in wrestling.

But I’m here to bring some positivity — in the spirit of Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods.

There was some beauty in what we saw during the New Day’s 10th Anniversary celebration on “Monday Night Raw.”

Woods and Kingston pulled off the perfect heel turn — in maybe the only way possible to get fans to truly hate them — by ganging up on Big E for not being there for them even while working to come back from a serious neck injury that appears to have ended his in-ring career. 

But in the end, they were all there for each other.

Woods and Kingston needed Big E to find a reason to reunite again and remain together and send themselves on their way to being heels for the first time. 

For Big E, it felt like a day of closure on his in-ring career and his time with The New Day. He wrote a long and emotional piece for “The Players’ Tribune.” Then he got one more time in front of the WWE fans to give his character a potential send-off — unless New Day goes babyface again down the road — and put together one more meaningful segment as a group. He got to interact with and help his friends one more time and undoubtedly let out some emotions.

From the high of hearing Big E volunteer to be back weekly as New Day’s manager to the low over watching Kingston put his arm out to block his friend’s hug made for a phenomenal segment. Those three guys poured their emotions out and it paid off, as sad as it was to see the beloved group end things — at least for now. (We were all waiting for Kingston and Woods to tell Big E they were joking.)

So don’t you dare be sour and embrace the positivity around what Big E, Kingston and Woods gave us just as New Day would have wanted. 

The opening segment of Raw shows WWE has hit yet another level of long-term storytelling ability. Put the excellent stuff between CM Punk and Seth Rollins aside. Rollins and Sami Zayn have been in the orbit of The Bloodline and Roman Reigns for so long that they were able to launch a hot personal issue against each other just by logically using each other’s story points involving Reigns against the other. Think about that for a second.

Maybe the Death Riders’ attack on “Hangman” Adam Page is the beginning of The Elite having a reason to come back and confront Moxley’s faction? I wish there had been more clarity on the deal between Hangman and Christian Cage. The commentary team having to speculate about it shows how convoluted the storytelling was at that moment.

The Chicago crowd for Dynamite got behind Kamille right away when she quit being Mercedes Mone’s employee after weeks of being belittled. It’s a very good sign considering they have only been together for four-plus months. AEW then had us find Kamille attacked backstage on Rampage followed by a cryptic X post by her former boss. “There’s a price to pay when you mess with #Moné,” she wrote. It should leave Kamille’s return move open-ended, with the possibility Mone already found her replacement.

R-Truth, who comes off as clueless and aloof, now outsmarting opponents in the ring and winning with small packages is perfect and has a chance to really catch some momentum with the audience. Let’s see just how far it takes him.

NXT loves its cliffhangers and the backstage attack on Eddy Thorpe to close their go-home show ahead of Deadline already has fans speculating. I’m with a lot of them and hope it’s Oba Femi. Him vs. Trick Williams would be some feud going into WrestleMania season.

Brody King beating Darby Allin and then standing in Claudio Castagnoli’s way as he tried to come into the ring and attack Allin felt like a powerful image. The faction keeps making enemies in AEW. 

Mariah May really does cold and heartless effectively well.

Johnny TV teaming with M&M Collection feels like a bizarro world version of Dalton Castle and The Boys.

It’s time MJF loses the Dynamite Diamond ring, but AEW will probably have Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly do something to ensure he gets it back.

The Lola Vice vs. Jada Parker Underground match is one the most intriguing at NXT Deadline. Both women are in the middle of pushes and a winner might get to step up the card soon. Parker continues to take steps forward every time she’s on screen.

Jacob Fatu, WWE

Fatu has become an absolute showstopper every time he’s on screen and Survivor Series was no different. Even in a match with some of the biggest stars in the company, you couldn’t take your eyes off his intensity and explosiveness. Fatu popping up immediately after getting hit with a toolbox from CM Punk was a highlight of the match as WWE builds anticipation for all his upcoming single feuds.

Sol Ruca vs. Zaria vs. Stephanie Vaquer vs. Giulia vs. Wren Sinclair, Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge at NXT Deadline (7 p.m., Peacock)

All three of the big-name women NXT signed in Zaria, Vaquer and Gulia are in this match with one of them likely coming out on top. With Roxanne Perez’s reign as NXT Women’s champion feeling like it’s coming to an end, and the main roster calling, the victor here likely will be her successor so the implications are huge. It will be curious to see how Shawn Michaels positions them in the match, where stories can be started for the losers too given its format.
