The Yankees placed Rougned Odor on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left knee sprain, the team announced.

Right-handed reliever Albert Abreu was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to take Odor’s spot on the roster.

Aaron Boone called it a “minor sprain,” but said more would be known about the severity after an examination by team physician Chris Ahmadon Wednesday. Odor received an MRI exam following Tuesday’s game, in which he was injured.

“All things considered, we kind of lucked out,’’ Boone said before Wednesday’s 6-3 win over the Astros in The Bronx. “It looked ugly to me.”

Odor was injured in a collision at home plate with Houston catcher Martin Maldonado during the sixth inning of the Yankees’ win Tuesday night at the Stadium. The second baseman had to be helped off the field after his left leg bent awkwardly as he appeared to slip on the plate and make contact with Maldonado, who also exited the game. Maldonado has a left trapezius contusion and is considered day-to-day.

Tyler Wade replaced Odor at second base for the remainder of Tuesday’s game.

Boone said the Yankees promoted Abreu instead of a bench player because “it just kind of fit right now.”

Odor will likely be out until Luke Voit comes back from his rehab following surgery last month to repair a partially torn meniscus in his left knee.

Voit played his second rehab game at Triple-A on Wednesday night and homered, after getting two hits on Tuesday. He also had his first game action at first base.

Voit could be back on the next road trip, which begins Tuesday at Tampa Bay. That timeline won’t be affected by Odor’s injury.

“Luke’s progress is Luke’s progress,’’ Boone said. “We’re not gonna race him back a couple days early just for that. We want to make sure he’s ready to go.”

Mike Ford started at first Wednesday and went 0-for-3.

When Odor returns, he figures to have less of a role, with Voit returning to first base and DJ LeMahieu back to second, with Gio Urshela at third base and Gleyber Torres at shortstop.

The Yankees’ infield defense has been better of late, with LeMahieu at first, Odor at second and Torres improving a bit at short, partially due to the Yankees’ shifting him to the left side of second base when possible.
