YANKS-METS, JUNE 16, Vol. I
I beat Joe Torre and Willie Randolph to the Stadium today, but thatâs what you have to do if you want to make sure you have a parking spot. There are many challenges at a Subway Series and parking is one of them.
My bad for not taking the Subway. But there is none from my little Jersey plot of land.
While setting up this morning in the press box, I saw the guy with the worst job at the Stadium. He had to use a gigantic pole to slowly knock off the debris on the netting above the seats behind home plate. You know how patient you have to be to get a napkin to move 100 feet. Itâs like picking up a baseball, one chain link at a time from behind a 12-foot fence.
Hereâs some Thoughts of the Moment: The Mets were smart to use their athleticism against the Yankees Friday night in the 2-0 win and thatâs a good move by Randolph to put Carlos Beltran in the two hole.
No Johnny Damon. No chance for Yankees. Damon is back in the lineup.
If Tyler Clippard doesnât come through, the Yankees figure to be 9 1-2 back because the Giants donât stand a chance in Boston. Clippard walks Reyes to start the game. Not smart.
First pitch: 1:09, and a foot high by Clippard. Game time temperature: 78 degrees. More to come.
C-Ya.
