Yes, I’m a little (a lot) behind the times… While looking up something for another story, I stumbled across a Variety piece from September that says that ex-Marvel head Avi Arad had optioned the movie rights to Mass Effect.

When I met the bigwig at Sci Fi Channel last year, I tried to convince him that Mass Effect would be a good property to adapt into a TV series (while I was championing the return of “Flash Gordon” and “The Dresden Files” and saying that it would be swell if they picked up “Supernatural,” should The CW have a brain fart and let it go), so I’m not sure quite how I feel about a Mass Effect movie. Seems like it would be a waste to go that route. Still, it could be good. But it could be awful. And it probably won’t happen for five or six years.
