Everything was going fine at the end of my overnight shift until I got an email from Jason Nelson suggesting I check out his art experiment/ platforming game. I noticed that I didn’t have nearly enough Red Bull, and would probably cease competent functioning in minutes anyway, so I gave it a go.

Jason told me that the “idea was and is to create series of strange hand-drawn art games. Less on the rules and more on games as a platform for artwork and writing.”

He’s a teacher in Australia whose classes focus on digital art and writing.

The mechanics of the flash game are simple and the game itself is easy enough to get through, but it’s literally bursting with odd fragments of writing, video and art.

“Think Mario meets schizophrenic meets hand-drawn meets poetics,” he said.

It’s supremely bizarre and an interesting experiment.
