Yes, it’s true. Apple has already gotten in on the gaming front, what with their lovely Brick and Parachute games that come pre-loaded on iPods.

But, according to Apple Insider, it looks like Apple’s trying to come up with a 3D remote control system for its Apple TV device, something akin to the Nintendo Wii Remote. (Plus multi-touch technology.)

As the recently made public November 2006 patent application states, “the absolute x- and y-positions of [the] remote control can be used, for example, in video games to position a user’s character or to otherwise track the movement of the remote control in a user’s environment.”

I have a love/hate relationship with Apple – in that I hate Apple, but love buying their products – so I’m curious to see what they come up with and how they intend to revolutionize gaming. If that’s indeed what they’re attempting to do. Which is what they attempt to do with everything. Music players, cell phones, blah blah blah.
