Apple said Tuesday that customers spent more than $10 billion on its App Store in 2013, including more than $1 billion in December alone.

App Store customers downloaded almost 3 billion apps in December, which Apple called the most successful month in App Store history.

The company said developers, who usually receive 70 percent of App Store sales, have earned more than $15 billion through the store to date.
