Here’s a long look at the combat you’ll be facing while playing the upcoming “Battlefield 3.” This trailer shows off a full 12 minutes of in-game footage (based on what EA’s calling “pre-alpha” software), involving Staff Sgt. Black and his team of U.S. Marines being dispatched to a dodgy part of town. They hit rooftops to eliminate an enemy sniper located in an abandoned hotel, disarm a homemade bomb, engage in first-person melee combat with a bomber and blast through a large-scale street firefight.

“Battlefield 3” is due in stores on Dec. 31, for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Pre-order now to get the classic “Back to Karkand” maps from “Battlefield 2” for free.
