The desire to turn all things into computers — not just TVs — was a major theme of Monday’s session.

Google announced plans to team up with Audi, Honda and GM to start turning cars into, well, smart cars.

This means giving already distracted drivers the ability to check their e-mail, play with apps and listen to music from their dashboards.

Meanwhile, Samsung is promising to make houses “smart,” by attaching technology to refrigerators that will allow people to watch TV and surf the Web from the kitchen.
